Course Description
The programme provides guided vocational learning in art and design as well as relevant key competences. It equips learners with the foundations required to undertake further studies in various specialist areas at undergraduate level. During the course, learners build a portfolio of student work that hones in their skills and gradually orients their focus in the direction they intend to follow in their career. The programme has an element of work-based learning through which students experience some contact with industry. Special attention is also given to visual and written communication in preparation for self-promotion and entrepreneurship after their studies.

MCAST Diploma in Art and Design
or
Any MCAST MQF Level 3 Diploma, whilst being in possession of the compulsory subject as indicated (required) hereunder
OR
4 SEC / SSC&P or equivalent with a Pass Grade / Level 3
Compulsory: Art or Art and Design or Design and Technology or Graphical Communication
*Applicants may be asked to sit for an Interview and/or present a Portfolio.
Other Important matters to be noted and considered:
Full MQF Level 3 Qualifications awarded by the Malta School of Art can be submitted as part of the required documents uploaded at point of application for this programme of studies, and will be reviewed accordingly with a view of considering, or otherwise, eligibility.
Any possible alternative qualifications (local and European) which may be presented instead of the above clearly set compulsory subjects, must very clearly be evidenced / documented as being equivalent to the set compulsory subjects in terms of Level, volume (in credits), and Content coverage. It will not be possible to consider variances, given the expected preparation and foundations in possession of the applicant asking to be considered for this MQF Level 4 programme of studies.
